What Is EVOLVE: Ability Like?  

EVOLVE: Ability class includes three distinct blocks of work, each with a particular focus: 

  • Stability. Standing core and balance 
  • Mobility. Range of motion and strength 
  • Flexibility. Lengthening muscles and reducing stress 

Within each block are 3 rounds of ELEVATION OPTIONS such as adding balance, increasing range of motion and breathing deeper into the stretch known as “Ability Boosters” to challenge and boost your skills!

Who Are EVOLVE: Ability Classes Best For? 

The EVOLVE program is truly for everyone. This class meets you right where you are and challenges you to improve every round. All elevation options are available as you will improve your stability, mobility and flexibility as you EVOLVE to the best and finest YOU! 

Is EVOLVE: Ability a Good Workout? 

EVOLVE: Ability is a feel-good workout that builds up some sweat! 

  • Core Stability and Balance. As we age, we tend to lose core stability and balance, resulting in a disposition towards falls and subsequent injury. EVOLVE: Ability focuses on developing stability and balance strategies so that participants can be more mindful with their movement, reducing their risk. 
  • Mobility. Increasing range of motion through mobility exercises allows more synovial fluid to be released into the joint, easing pain and increasing mobility. 
  • Flexibility. This is the range of motion around a joint, and this component of fitness is often the most neglected. It is critical, however, to maintain flexibility in order to maintain range of motion. Tight hip flexors, for example, can lead to lower back pain. 
  • Strength. A focus on bodyweight strength in EVOLVE: Ability allows the maintenance of muscle mass, which declines naturally with age, but also with sedentary lifestyles. Strength training also supports increased bone density, which makes seniors less susceptible to bone breaks from falls. 
  • Prehabilitation. Developing strength, stability, mobility, and flexibility will help prevent potential injuries and significantly reduce any physical therapy needed in a post-surgical situation. 
  • Postural and Functional Training. Connecting exercises to everyday activities will help seniors become more mindful of the muscles it takes to complete an action, thus engaging muscles needed for the tasks, and preventing injury. 

How Difficult is EVOLVE: Ability  

4/10. Beginners and all fitness levels welcome. Options are available to accommodate everybody as ELEVATION options are offered. Every round of low-impact exercises challenges you to improve.   

How Long Is Each Class? 

EVOLVE: Ability is 30 minutes. You will warm up your muscles and lubricate your joints, then 8 minutes focused on stability, 8 minutes dedicated to mobility and 8 minutes of concentrated flexibility work, finishing with satisfying stretches for a cooldown.  

What Should I Wear? 

Come ready to play. Typically, people wear sweat-wicking clothing that will offer ample coverage and will stay put and allow you to move with ease throughout the range of motion of exercises.  

Cross Training Gym Shoes.  Be sure to wear comfortable shoes that offer support and stability as you move, balance and stretch throughout class.   

What do I need to Bring? 

Hydrate, my friend! Make sure you have plenty of water with you.  Also, pop a towel in your gym bag as you perspire to greatness. Most importantly, bring a great attitude and smile to share.
